How to apply weight plates in your training?
Weight plates are very versatile. Attach them to a barbell and get started with presses, squats, or deadlifts. Or use them alone for core exercises and lunges. Gradually increase the weight if you are just starting. Then try heavier plates step by step. This way you keep making progress without unnecessary risks.

Which trainings benefit most from weight plates?
- Strength training: Weight plates are indispensable for classic compound exercises such as the bench press, squat, and row. These exercises activate multiple muscle groups simultaneously and ensure maximum muscle growth and strength increase. By adjusting the weight, you can specifically train for hypertrophy, strength, or endurance.
- Functional fitness: Use weight plates for exercises such as lunges, step-ups, or rotational movements to improve your balance, coordination, and core stability. Ideal for athletes training for everyday movement patterns or sports performance.
- Explosive and technical training: Work on speed, control, and technique by varying weights. Light plates are perfect for drills where explosiveness, mobility, or technical precision are central, such as Olympic lifts or plyometric exercises.
- Circuit and conditioning training: Add light weight plates to your interval or conditioning training to create just that little extra resistance. Whether you train for fat burning, muscle definition, or overall fitness, you determine the intensity yourself.
Weight plate materials
The training material is important for durability. Our weight plates are made of metal, traditional cast iron, or virgin rubber, which offers many advantages. This material has long-lasting wear resistance and is resistant to many weather conditions (except cast iron plates). Additionally, the weight plates feature distinctive different colors, making them easy to recognize in the gym.
Available in various weights:
Whether you are just starting or have been training for years, with our plates you can perfectly tailor your workout to your level. Choose from:
- 5 kg per plate – ideal for beginners, warm-ups, or isolation exercises.
- 10 kg per plate – perfect for functional training or strength building.
- 20 kg per plate – for serious lifters who really want to go heavier.
Combine different cast iron weight plates to reach your ideal training weight and continue to grow easily in strength and technique.
Differences and advantages of weight plates by material type
1. Stainless Steel & Rubber (Stainless steel with rubber coating)
- Durable and rust-resistant: Stainless steel lasts a long time, even with intensive use or in humid spaces.
- Floor-protective: The rubber layer provides cushioning when placing down, protecting your floor.
- Stylish and professional appearance: Often used in high-end gyms or PT studios.
Highly suitable for:
Athletes who value durability and a neat appearance, and who train in places where the floor needs extra protection. Ideal for home use and ensures weightlifting without damage to your home gym.
2. High-quality Virgin Rubber
- Odorless: Unlike recycled rubber, virgin rubber does not emit a chemical smell.
- Gentle on floor and equipment: Excellent cushioning on drops or placing down. This makes these bumper plates ideal for home use.
- Very wear-resistant: Remains in good condition for a long time, even with intensive use.
Extra plus: Virgin rubber is more environmentally friendly because it is a pure, non-recycled material.
Suitable for:
Home users or gyms looking for high quality and user-friendliness without compromises.
3. Cast Iron, Steel & Rubber (combination)
- Very sturdy: The cast iron weight plates provide maximum stability and a compact design.
- Affordable: Often priced more favorably than full stainless steel or virgin rubber variants.
- Rubber coating offers basic protection: Less cushioning than virgin rubber, but sufficient for regular use.
Note: A cast iron weight plate is less quiet and less friendly to your floor when dropped.
Suitable for:
Strength trainers looking for sturdy, affordable weight plates for versatile use.
Features of Olympic weight plates
Olympic weight plates must meet the strict standards of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). These plates are specially designed for official competitions and combine a steel or stainless steel core with a high-quality, odorless rubber layer. This makes Olympic weight plates not only extremely durable but also safe and quiet when dropping heavy weights, limiting bouncing.
All plates from 10 kg have a standard diameter of 450 mm, so the Olympic barbell (with a higher load capacity) is always at the same height, regardless of the weight. The opening of the plates is precisely calibrated at 50.4 mm and the weight tolerance is minimal, often no more than 10 grams deviation. Each weight class also has a fixed color, such as red for 25 kg and blue for 20 kg, so the weight is quickly and clearly recognizable for athletes, coaches, and judges.
Handy tips for using weight plates
1. Start slowly
Start with a lower weight at first. This way you are sure your technique is good before you start heavier work.
2. Stay focused
Keep your core tight and your back straight. If you doubt whether you can do this, weightlifting belts are often a good solution!
3. Pay attention to your breathing
Breathe well and do not hold tension that hinders your form.
4. Maintain your weight plates
Store your weight plates in a dry place. Wipe them clean after use. This prevents rust or wear.
5. Change exercises
Regularly switch exercises to keep surprising your muscles.
