CrossFit Competition Calendar 2025 – Everything you need to know
For those who want to take part in a CrossFit competition in 2025, whether it's your very first time or your tenth competition, a good overview is essential. In this article, you will find a clear explanation of the competition season, answers to frequently asked questions, and at the bottom the full calendar for 2025.
Whether you train RX, participate Scaled, or want to hit the field with a buddy: there is always an event that fits.
Why should you participate in a CrossFit competition?
Participating in a competition gives you something to train for. It provides structure to your program and makes you goal-oriented. You learn to perform under pressure, work on your recovery, and often train more consciously than when training without a deadline.
You don't have to be the best. Participating is already a win. The experience, the atmosphere, and the satisfaction of completing a workout you trained hard for make every competition valuable.
When does the CrossFit season start?
The official CrossFit season starts on 27 February 2025 with the CrossFit Open, and runs until 17 March. The Open consists of four weeks with one workout per week. You perform these in your own box and log your score online.
There are categories for RX, Scaled, and even Foundations. It is the ideal way to get acquainted with competition in a low-threshold, familiar environment.

Can I also participate as a beginner?
Yes, definitely. Many competitions have separate divisions for beginner athletes or Scaled participants. The movements are technically less complex and the weights are lower. The goal is mainly to gain experience and challenge your own level.
Good events for beginners include:
- Team Throwdown Assen - accessible, friendly, and educational
- Dutch Throwdown - known as the stepping stone for beginner competitors
- Belgian Masters Championship - ideal if you are 35+ and want to use your experience
TIP: Start small. Choose a buddy event or team competition. Training together = growing together.
Are there also CrossFit competitions for duos or teams?
Yes, many competitions offer buddy or team categories. These are perfect if you prefer to train and compete with someone else. It lowers the barrier and often makes the experience more fun and motivating.
Popular team and buddy events in 2025 include:
- Beach Showdown - Aalsmeer (February 15)
- Belgium Showdown - Ghent (May 17)

How do I know which CrossFit competitions suit me?
