Durable Material and Secure Closure

The Worm consists of an outer cover and multiple filler bags, both made from extra-strong Cordura material: abrasion-resistant, tear-resistant, and suitable for intensive indoor and outdoor use. The filler bags feature a double closure system (YKK zipper and hook-and-loop fastener), so you can train with confidence, even during heavy repetitions.

Modular System for Every Training Goal

The modular design allows you to adjust the load per segment depending on your training goal and the number of team members. Fill the bags yourself with a combination of rubber granulate and sand: granulate provides volume, while sand adds weight. This keeps the Worm versatile and easy to use, from light training to heavy loads.

Use & Applications

Worm Filling Material

Fill the Worm properly by always using both sand and rubber granulate. Choose crumbly, bone-dry sand with a grain that is not too fine. Concrete sand, masonry sand, or crusher sand work best; the coarse grains do not work their way through the stitching. Artificial grass infill sand is the cleanest option, but it is more expensive. Play sand can also be used if it is sifted and completely dry. Avoid damp sand: it clumps, distributes unevenly, and will eventually start to smell. If you are unsure whether the sand is dry enough, spread it out on a tarp in the sun for a day. Use SBR rubber granulate with a grain size of 2 to 4 mm. Finer granulate creates dust and works its way into the seams, while coarser granulate fills less compactly.

Filling the Worm

The Worm only works if every bag is full and at the correct weight. Sand weighs approximately 1.5 kg per litre, while rubber granulate weighs approximately 0.5 kg per litre. If you fill a bag with sand only, it will not be full enough at the desired weight, and the sand will move freely from side to side. This causes the Worm to sag in the middle and lose its shape. If you fill a bag with granulate only, it will remain tight and full, but will not be heavy enough to train with.

Use granulate as the base so that each bag is filled tightly into the corners, then add sand to build up the weight. This way, the Worm retains its shape, rests evenly on your shoulder, and behaves the same way during every rep. Rule of thumb: replacing 1 litre of granulate with 1 litre of sand adds approximately 1 kg without changing the volume. This allows you to set each weight precisely. Fill the Worm in 5 steps:

Weigh each bag separately. Place a bucket on a scale, tare it, and work in portions—never by guesswork.
Start with rubber granulate until the bag is approximately two-thirds full.
Add sand, close the bag, and shake it thoroughly so that the sand settles between the granules.
Top it up with granulate until the bag is tightly full. Close the zipper, secure the hook-and-loop fastener over it, and double-check the closure.
Drop the bag flat onto the floor a few times to settle the filling. Add another handful of granulate if necessary, and only then place the bag in the outer cover.

Please note: the distribution is indicative. Sand and rubber granulate vary by supplier in grain size, moisture content, and density, so the exact ratio may differ in practice. Use the table as a guideline and work with a scale.

The rule that always applies: fill the bag until it is completely full and tight. If space remains, add granulate. If the bag is full but too light, remove a scoop of granulate and replace it with the same amount of sand. If it is too heavy, do the opposite.

Setup 2: Competition. Heavy bags in the middle and light bags at the ends. This is the classic competition setup. The weight is intentionally not distributed evenly, requiring the team to constantly adjust. This setup trains harder than the total weight might suggest.

Do not exceed the specified maximum filling weights per bag. Extra weight does not increase the training value of the Worm; it only causes it to wear out faster.
